# Authentication

AutoRABIT APIs use API keys for secure authentication. All authentication is handled through **HTTP Basic Auth**, where the API key is provided as the username. No password is required.

Your API key grants significant access—treat it like a password. **Do not expose your API key** in public code repositories, client-side applications, or other insecure locations such as [GitHub](/product-guides/arm/arm-features/automation-and-ci/enabling-github-checks.md).

> **ℹ️ API Token Header Usage**
>
> Generate your API key from the AutoRABIT platform. For cURL or other HTTP clients, include it in the header as:
>
> ```
> header -- "token: api-key"
> ```
>
> This header is required for all authenticated API requests.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledgebase.autorabit.com/product-guides/arm/introduction-to-arm-developer-apis/authentication.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
